pc based curve comparison v/i tracing
« on: April 20, 2015, 11:36:00 am »
Hello all

and sorry for my bad english :(

i got a question and a i need some help !!
i did some research about curve tracing using a x-y mode on oscilloscopes and i know about curve tracers like octopus and cheap simple stuff posted on the forum or else where sound card based curve trackers like the one by Dr gorge e steber if i remembre and redpitaya opensource multi function oscilloscope etc ... and curve tracers posted on magazins like transistor curve tracer on i cant remebre name of magazins it was an edition of 2009  and i saw posts about the guy who is solding his what he calls "my intellegent curve tracer "

and i have dual curve tracer a old analog polar t1500 and i found that there is a new equipement
invented heuh not invented but produced by a company on turkey its a fados 9f1

whats diffrent between a normal curve tracer and this equipement is that :

1- it hase a simple usb based oscillscope with 2 inputs
2- is that the software make a comparaison mean that if you have a 2 identic boards and one of them is working you can take mesurment of the first one store them on the a software and then if you wanna compare the broken board to the good one u just call the file and start automatically stepping from point to point and if it find a diffrent on the curves it say there is a error here
a good idea not new but simple and coool

what is my question is that is there anyway to i dont know mod the wildrange of opensource software online to add this methode to one of them i tried to do that on a ready made project
but i failed guess its not that simple for a newbie like me
the code was hard it was coded with c
and it stores the curves as cvs file and then you can load it but i wanted todo a sequence comparaison but i failed

to make it a first short post ill put a link to the fados and to the project i wanted to modify

note im poor cant by a huntron or a fados  im from morocco and i fix laptops for living :) so imagine the time i consume finding one fault on a 50 page laptop schematic pdf !!!!

here is a discussion between me and the owner of the opensource oscilloscope project
Yassine,

Thank you for your interest and kind comments.

A curve tracer could be added and connected to the scope.  Since it is hooked to the computer, it is easy to save data.  Perhaps another software could do the curve comparison.  It certainly would be easier to compare the data output in a spreadsheet or math package.  But certainly, I'll add the feature request to the list.

Also, thanks for the offer on translating.  I'll take you up on it when I attempt to incorporate translations.

Have a great day!

Jonathan

hi brother i was missing with your code a littel and i find out that the compare function will be easy but need to much coding basically what we gonna do me and my freind is log the curve in x-y mode the compare to another cvs
like first log to second log or something like this
add another menu to the ppmscope and parse the cvs log by name not date or maybe separate each log from another
by the name realy nice code im asking pemission from you to mess around with the code a bit so i see what i can do
here is a screeen shoot of the code im hammering my mind now a littel

Yassine,

Feel free to modify the code to suit your needs.

Thanks,
