Storing videos from a camera directly in an SD
« on: June 09, 2022, 01:24:20 pm »
Hello, I am working on a camera system that has to record a video and store it in some type of memory.
The main constraint here is space: it has to be very small, ideally less than 4x4x6cm, and lightweight. I found a camera that uses a USB 2.0, but I need a way to record its output.

Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

Thank you

I picked up one of those super cheap eBay cameras that records directly to a SD card. Seems to work okay. It has motion sensing and can be setup to record on power-up.

Long story short, this thing has to fly, so it has to be very, very lightweight (max 100g) and it has to not consume much power. I will definitely look into dashcams and see what I can find.

What I think Jester is talking about is something like the "SQ11"  or what pops up when you search aliexpress for "minicamera":

https://www.aliexpress.com/wholesale?catId=0&initiative_id=SB_20220609122143&SearchText=minicamera&spm=a2g0o.productlist.1000002.0

There's a bunch of different models so make a thorough search through the listings.

The cube cameras are very lightweight - the one I got weights 9 grams. Also note that mine didn't record any audio.
