# The Rigol web interface does not display on Linux

Hi everyone,

I'm just getting started with Linux on my workshop computer (Linux Mint XFCE), and so far everything has been going well.
But then I tried to access my Rigol devices via the web interface, and unfortunately, that isn't working at all.

It still displays the normal website with the menu on the left, but as soon as it’s supposed to show a mirror image of the device’s screen, it doesn’t work.

I’ve tried the following:

Firefox: It does show me the screen mirror, but it’s rotated 180 degrees, too small, and the origin isn’t at the bottom left but at the top right, so when I zoom in, the image moves off the screen.

Chrome: Only the normal start menu is displayed, but nothing happens when I try to use the screen mirroring feature. The window remains completely blank.

Chromium: Same as with Chrome.

Since quite a few people here use Linux, maybe someone has a tip on how I can still get something to display?

Could you try out a wayland based display server, I think Mint has an experimental version in one or more of it's flavours ?

I don't think there are any more powerful display servers running on it. That's why I went with the XFCE version. It's a small “HP Mini PC Elite 8000 USDT” computer; since I don't have much space in my workshop, a standard-sized computer wasn't an option.

It's not really about the "power" of the display, but rather the underlying display compositor method, ie Wayland or Xorg.

I have had similar graphical symptoms in the past going in either direction, misalignment of display elements on Wayland or Xorg.

I don't have a rigol scope to test this out, but it sounds like the web UI has to render multiple processes into the one window. There's any number of things that could go amiss.

Xorg vs Wayland is just a simple A/B test to see if it makes a difference. Though like I said I am not sure the current state of Mint and how easy it is to add an additional server to your display manager login screen.

Given the "vintage" of that machine, I suspect you may be hitting gpu issues... I don't know it's exact specs, but my guess is it is gonna have an embedded intel gpu from the bad old days when they were pretty crusty and had lots of limitations and bugs in the hardware and drivers. That may actually prevent you from even installing wayland, as its support for older hardware isn't great.

My first troubleshooting suggestion might be to disable hardware graphics acceleration in the browser(s) and see if that helps. I suspect it may fix or alleviate your immediate problems... though it may also make the rigol UI unreasonably slow.
