Any value between 5k and 100k can work, 6.35mm/0.25" shaft preferred.

Low-budget project calls for a counting dial to read 0 to 5.00 units stop-to-stop in order to simplify user interface. Already have 1/4" decade counting dials and hardware.

use a more common 10 T and place a stop in the turns counter dial

For this application the wiper needs to sweep through the full resistance range of the pot (it's a 0-100% voltage divider).

That said, a rotation stop doesn't seem to be an option for any 10-turn counting dials I'm familiar with; I'd be interested if you know a source, could be handy some day.

(btw in case it's not obvious from "low budget," I realize I can buy a new 5-turn pot for ~USD$50, and am here to avoid that level of expense... ;^)

Even in Mouser there are 5-turn bourns for 20$ - far from the 50$ you are saying.

On Aliexpress I found many 5-turn pots for less than 1buck.  Example: https://aliexpress.com/item/1005008119595677.html

(on ali - If you search for pots - you'll get plant pots; so have to write potentiometer)

Obviously if this is a manipulator from a mission critical app - e.g. hoist or a lift - I wouldn't trust an AliExpress pot (nor any mechanical pot - I would probably opt for a hall effect Grayhill or APEM industrial controls (no longer in the 20-50$ range but in the 60-250$ range).

Thanks,  with a different query I do (now) see pots as low as $31 plus shipping. ~ $20 appears for quantity 50 or greater (I just need one).

No, it's not a spacecraft or a medical life support device; but also no, not wasting my time with offbrand Ali Express junk.

I have a pot incoming from another member, thanks all for reading.  Cheers, Zike
