beginner looking for cheep oscilloscope
« on: November 01, 2013, 09:21:52 pm »
I am a beginner looking for a cheep oscilloscope, it can be any make or model and I don't care whether its digital or analog. I am living in Canada and on the budget of a 16 yo ski coach. this would be my first oscilloscope and so I would appreciate a list of pros and cons along with any offers so that I can make a good decision.

You might check with forum user edy, he's from Toronto. He picked up two cheap scopes not to long ago on accident. He bid on one and then another but figured someone would outbid him.

What he did is bid on them in the US and had them mailed to some family in New Jersey and he drove down and picked them up.

I'm not sure what the scope situation is for Canada in general, but I suspect it's probably not too bad.

A few months ago I saw 2 "Pintek" brand scopes sell for under $10 each on Ebay and they weren't bad looking.

Have you watched the video on how to get a $100 scope off Ebay that Dave did?

If you're in the Ottawa area (doubtful if you're a ski coach) and you can wait until the 26th, I'd consider lending you an analog scope.

What sort of work is it for?

it's quite likely you could find one locally on kijiji.

I'm assuming cheap analog tektronix for <=~100$ range stuff
