Hi, Bud!
I have the equipment in the kitchen because it keeps +/- 1F.
Lots of folks I sell to have pretty 'labs' that swing over 5 degrees.
And some have their equipment in the basement, where it's
pretty but at 66F... That gives them little cushion in the 5C
allowed on either side of the cal temp, if it's cal'd at 33C. (3458)
Some of the worst trash I've bought on fleabay was buffed
to a high shine by flippers.. One didn't even have a reference
board installed, some are drifters, etc., speaking 3458s here.
I keep my lab mules upside down with the covers loose - gives
1 minute access to the A/D and AC boards, where I do most
of my work.
I do love to look at primo equipment in million dollar labs. I get
all the Keysight flyers with the gleaming new boxes... just
beautiful. I wish that someday I might have a dream-looking
lab, with copper mesh walls and a JJA in the corner.
I was in the army during the 1968 TET... got back in 69Jan.
We had a saying... if it looks stupid but it works, it ain't stupid.
So far, all of my 3458s have gone through 17025 cals with
'no adjustment needed'.
So.... keep polishing and buffing your gear so that it will look great.
I really appreciate that.
Just make sure it can perform better than my dirty stuff.
