FREE DEC TU80 tape drive
« on: April 14, 2019, 05:39:32 pm »
I'm moving my lab and, among other things, I have a DEC TU80 9 track tape drive that's been sitting there for years.  AFAIK it was working when I retrieved it from an installation in Waterloo Ontario for a project that I never got to.

Anyway, it's gotta go and I'd rather not scrap it.  As is, where is.  Come get it in Rochester Michigan, it's yours.  Pay freight and for movers to get it out of my basement lab and it's yours.

Specified weight in the cabinet is 280 pounds.

No, I will not remove parts or boards from it.  If I have to, I'll scrap it out and put the pieces on ebay, but I'd rather it went intact.

At the very least I'd suggest contacting the Computer History Museum to see if they want it or some parts of it.

https://www.computerhistory.org/artifactdonation/

There is a tab also of unneeded items and at the bottom of that list is a list of alternative places to try.

Thanks for those links!  I'll follow up on those.

Somebody must have a Vax in their basement that needs one of these.
