FS: MilliOhm/Voltage Meter Kit
« on: May 19, 2014, 01:06:56 pm »
Please refer to the following thread for more details and discussion about this device:
https://www.eevblog.com/forum/projects/diy-milliohmvolt-meter-kit/

I now have a limited number of these kits in stock. Each kit is priced at $62 (shipped worldwide with tracking) and comes with the following:

1. PCB.
2. All the components except the optional external voltage reference (REF5025)*.
3. A programmer to program the MCU.
4. A pair of basic (i.e. not very high quality) Kelvin clips, wires and banana plugs. Will require assembly.
5. Acrylic case, banana sockets and button caps**.
6. Documentation in English including the part list, schematics and DIY guide.
7. Latest version of the firmware and the source code.

* The external voltage reference (REF5025) is an optional item. The device "dual boots" into 2 different modes at startup, Voltage Meter or MilliOhm Meter, and this reference is only used in the Voltage Meter mode. The device will work fine without it, as there's a built-in reference in the MCU already. The chip will cost an extra $2.5 if you want to include it.

** In the other forum thread I posted pictures of the unit I assembled myself. Mine has red buttons. However, the kits I received from the author have buttons of different colours. I have made sure each set has uniformly coloured buttons but they may be either red, white, or yellow. I'll try to accommodate it if you have a particular preference, otherwise I will randomly pick a colour for you.

EDIT: The LiPo battery is NOT included. You will need to find yourself an old mobile phone's battery or something similar. It can be powered by USB too without a battery.

Please PM me your Paypal email address if interested. Thanks for looking!

Cheers,
Franky

Is it an kit in the sense that you need to solder every smd component?

Any details of the programmer? Is it possible to get a kit without a programmer?

Yes. Jaxbird posted some pictures of an early kit before I even translated the documentation into English: https://www.eevblog.com/forum/projects/diy-milliohmvolt-meter-kit/msg443215/#msg443215

I don't really have detailed information about the programmer. I'm attaching a picture of the device (sorry about the poor quality, don't have a good setup at home).

The main chip is a C8051F320. It comes with the kit I sell, I'm afraid I can't sell one without it, sorry.

Just wanted to add that, as Jaxbird pointed out in the other thread, it is not recommended that one attempts to put this kit together if he/she hasn't had any SMD soldering experience before. It's not awfully difficult though as I myself had minimal SMD experience and still managed to get one to work :)

320?, wasnt the whole idea to use the C8051F350 due to the 24bit adc?, 320 only have an 10bit?

That is the programmer. The MCU on the meter is 350.

Here's another picture reposted from the other thread, of the actual device:
