I guess. The advantage of a third-party service is that you need to be at a computer when the auctions ends. It's nice if you buy things from sellers in different timezones.
Yeah, that makes sense. I'm a bit nuts and will just set an alarm.
I can't stand someone else's software having any kind of control over my money (if it can be avoided).
I'd set up my own, but then I'd have to maintain it ^^'
The other great advantage of bidsniping services, is that you can completely emotionally detach from the whole process. You just calmly decide on a limit you're prepared to pay, enter that, then go away and come back later after the auction ends, when it's convenient to you. Agonizing over bidding wars, staying up to odd hours, worrying about computer/net glitches in the last few seconds, who needs it?
Incidentally, bid sniping services don't have any 'control over your money'. They just submit your bid at the right instant. You still do all the payment and stuff if you win the item.
Most snipe bid services even provide a number of free bids per week.
I use
https://www.bidnapper.com/.Used to use another one, but ebay bought it up and Borged it.
Besides, I absolutely don't trust ebay. By sitting there hitting refresh near to an auction end you're signaling your interest and intention to bid. Any stockmarket trader who did that would be asking to get front-run. Is ebay any different? Just saying.
