Mmm, these are absolutely my favorite scope.
Too bad I'm broke at the moment, and can't afford to make an offer, OR the couple of hundred it would cost to send via my reshipper to Australia. Sigh.

That situation might resolve fairly soon, but I expect someone will have snapped it up by then.

Some newcomer looking for a good analog scope should snap this up.  You should include probes ;-)

If you were willing to break it up, I would be interested in one of the 7A19s...

Ah, you put it on ebay.   Item 141265242598.
I was going to make an offer here, but was probably less than it will sell for. Interesting to see.

It's OK. I am pretty certain it will go for more on ebay than I can afford atm. And I don't want you to get less than you can for it.

I actually have several of these already, but some are dead - because I've been too slack to fix them. Another working one would be nice for the racks, but not a desperate need.

Always amusing to watch the silly bid nibblers leapfrogging each other by a few cents, days before end of auction. As if it means something.

Right? I think it's going up by like 50c increments, and probably will continue until 30 minutes before the end of the auction.

And then, as usual, in the last 5 seconds the price will at least double, due to the serious people who use bid sniping.

Heh. It went for  US $127.75, to a bidder b***6( 22)  who had not participated in the silly '50 cent increment wars' and used a snipe bidding service. And as usual the price approximately doubled in the last couple of minutes. I don't understand why the nibble bidders never learn they are wasting their time, and stressing themselves out pointlessly. Even some with high ebay ratings still doing that.

I'm feeling rather sad I couldn't afford to bid. Thought it would go for something between $80 and $150, so would have snipe-bid $160. If I actually HAD the money to spare, which I don't.

Ah well, that's life.

I hope b***6( 22) is some young electronics enthusiast, just starting out. As suggested by their low ebay rating.
It's a very nice scope. Hopefully they'll also get a 19" rack to mount it (and other gear.)
MakuseruSukotto, you should mention eevblog to the buyer, just in case they don't know.

Honestly, no need for snipe bidding.

It might not work for you, but I evaluate how much I'm willing to pay for something, and submit that as a bid in the last three seconds.  If someone is willing to pay more than I am, it's theirs.

I meant as opposed to using a third-party sniping service.

Edit: I realise if he didn't have the money to go up to $160, it was a lost cause, but you can still bid what you're able/willing to pay.  Sometimes you win, sometimes you don't.

I guess. The advantage of a third-party service is that you need to be at a computer when the auctions ends. It's nice if you buy things from sellers in different timezones.

Yeah, that makes sense.  I'm a bit nuts and will just set an alarm.

I can't stand someone else's software having any kind of control over my money (if it can be avoided).

I'd set up my own, but then I'd have to maintain it ^^'

I came here to sell my old TDS744A scope and wasn't expecting to find my old scope. I'm certain this one is the actual scope I owned. The sticker residue and dents match. I bought it several years ago when I was in college, broken with a blown transistor in the power supply and several tantalum caps that the transistor took with it. I had a 200 MHz HP 1715A prior to that, then the 500 MHz TDS744A and now a LeCroy WavePro 7300A 3 GHz. Good memories and nice to know it's still running.

The other great advantage of bidsniping services, is that you can completely emotionally detach from the whole process. You just calmly decide on a limit you're prepared to pay, enter that, then go away and come back later after the auction ends, when it's convenient to you. Agonizing over bidding wars, staying up to odd hours, worrying about computer/net glitches in the last few seconds, who needs it?

Incidentally, bid sniping services don't have any 'control over your money'. They just submit your bid at the right instant. You still do all the payment and stuff if you win the item.
Most snipe bid services even provide a number of free bids per week.
I use https://www.bidnapper.com/.
Used to use another one, but ebay bought it up and Borged it.

Besides, I absolutely don't trust ebay. By sitting there hitting refresh near to an auction end you're signaling your interest and intention to bid. Any stockmarket trader who did that would be asking to get front-run. Is ebay any different? Just saying.
