***Bumping an old ad, price drop to $1,100***Hi all,
As per my 34411a thread I am posting some gear at great prices for a quick sale to raise funds for another purchase opportunity. For sale is a Tektronix AFG3102 dual channel generator in great condition. Last cal was 7.14.14.
Works perfectly and is incredibly intuitive to use, I haven't looked at the manual once. Tektronix datasheet has all the info you should need -
https://www.tek.com/datasheet/afg3000-seriesThis is the original series, not the revised AFG3102C, as far as I know the only difference is the change of screen. The original screens on model have a slightly patchy look to them, even when new as evidenced by the Tek promo videos and even on W2AEW's channel but are bright.
The two most recent sales on eBay went for $2,750 (calibrated) and a best offer accepted at $1,700.
U.S. only, Paypal only. I'll eat Paypal fees, shipping on you at cost.

Forget buying a Chinese Generator and get yourself a Tek. The current AFG3102C model sells for $5,400!

What would be the advantage of this one over, e.g., Siglent SDG2042 (hackable till 120MHz)? I see Tek has better output voltage swing, anything else?

No rust and no Siglent badge.

Based on my experience with an SDG1010 I'd expect the Tektronix to -for example- do log sweep correctly, somewhat floating outputs and have other functions better implemented.

Well, my comment was somewhat tongue in cheek as I haven't used a lot of the common Chinese meters but I think the Tek would have all of the usual advantages that a high end U.S. piece from one of the big three would have over a Chinese competitor
- Better and more stable software, especially as you get into the deeper feature set
- Better support long term (repairs and parts into the future)
- Better and better documented software for waveform creation
- Better build quality and reliability
- Better performance at the extremes of ability (Tek generally spec conservatively whereas Chinese products are often optimistically specced at their limits)
Nothing against the Chinese, love the country and people and they offer some incredible value for money but this is a high end piece from an established manufacturer.

You do know it says 'Made in China' on the back of your AFG3102?

Of course! I think you know that I mean a Chinese
designed product rather than manufactured.

Try using Tektronix MDO3000 you will really have lot time to think about Tektronix quality between pauses oscilloscope takes to process commands, this scope takes while to do even a small thing. and additional to that , it just decide to hang when ever it feels like.
i can say about feature set try using there Tektronix Arb Express software.
Crap is Crap where ever it came from.

Hey man,
Ok, I get it. As I said, I was making an offhand joke.
I've never used an MDO3000 so I can't comment but this Gen is really really great. There's no lag and it is really intuitive to use, even for someone as unskilled as me.
So let's agree that good things are good and bad things are bad, wherever they come from. This is a good thing.
Bump for another price drop.
I have a Tek AFG. Super happy. don't get why it is not sold yet.

It's really great. Having just sold my Agilent 34411a I'm feeling pangs of regret, I just tested every function on the meter and it's such an elegant design. I need this Tek to sell but don't
want it to sell.
It turns out that letting go of test gear is harder than acquiring it...

The ad says 'US only' and that does limit the market quite a bit. I don't think the generator is very heavy so the shipping costs are not going to be astronomic. The only extra effort to ship to another country is writing the name of the country on the address and filling in a simple form which states the contents and value.
Bump to wake up an old for sale thread.
Price dropped to $1,100.
