Some of those meanwell are $150+, here is the WDR for example: https://www.digikey.com/en/products/detail/mean-well-usa-inc/WDR-480-24/7707220
$5 is a fair discount.

Its not even discontinued too.

Yes, I came back.

Just inquired about Meanwell supplies and was told I could fill a pallet for $50

They want this stuff GONE.
Make up a pallet - full of Meanwell supplies  (there are still quite a few) and you will proabably pay no more than $50 ... FOR THE WHOLE PALLET.

I had another  quick look this morning and yes there is still  enough to get a palet load  :D

If you are interested in a portable fridge ,definitely head on down. Plenty still and prices going down.
Had a look at Dave's first video inside the warehouse with racks and racks packed to the ceiling with fridges  :o ...
Just gobsmacked !

Lucky it's in Sydney, if this was happening here in NZ I'd have likely come away with a LOT of power supplies, and a larger amount of regret when I realised I had to find somewhere to store them all.

They must be taking a massive hit on this, either it's stock that just doesn't sell, or they really really don't want to move it, at any cost.

From the dust Dave pointed out, its old stock that will just never sell, a lot of it discontinued. Its normal to write off old inventory.
https://www.jaycar.com.au/12v-120w-din-rail-switchmode-power-supply/p/MP3195 (heavily discounted online already, and probably didnt sell).

The fridge things though is a bit odd. They still sell large/heavy items on their website:
https://www.jaycar.com.au/340w-premium-recreational-solar-package/p/ZM9306
https://www.jaycar.com.au/12v-120ah-agm-deep-cycle-battery/p/SB1683

But maybe those are through a different warehouse, etc.

Relocation of old stock is a logistical nightmare - especially with the new robotic systems where packaging requirements could be very different. Easier to just push it out the door.

I tried to build a pallet but had limited time. Didn't get anywhere near 50% let alone fill it.

Total spend today - $10.

Photos to come - after I make room in the garage ... because that's where I'll probably be sleeping. ...

I was told that if I were to come around 3:00 today it might be worth dropping in again.

I can't make it ... which is just as well.

A quick check of the manufacture date of one of the Meanwell power supply shows 2018, not that old.

Hooray, got a few small meanwell PSUs.  Took some digging and luck, I didn't see anything like pallettes of them (unless they were hiding?).   I don't think the biggest one is big enough for my 3d printer, however I'll do some calcs (the "180W" label on the existing one might be inflated). EDIT: No the best I got was a 12V 8A, which is not enough :(  I might be able to dual-supply my printer perhaps

I was charged $15 for more than I could carry (I tried to show them what I had, but they clearly just wanted it gone).  Broke my arms taking it home on bus and train.  Most of it was a $6 mystery box, one of the staff kept bringing a new one out every few minutes and it was first dibs.

Lots of small parts to sort through now.

EDIT:  Got some HDMI-over-CAT and HDMI switches in the mystery box :|  Anyone want them?

I'm after a half-decent-brand 12V 15A+ fanless or semi-fanless power supply for my 3D printer.  (If it has a constantly running fan then I may as well use an ATX supply, which might be what I end up doing).

If you're interested in a PSU swap then I'm happy to trade an arbitrary combo of these in return.  From left to right:
  • Meanwell AD-155A  (13.8V 10.5A + 13.8V 0.5A) gone
  • Meanwell RS-100-24 (24V 4.5A)
  • Meanwell LRS-100-12 (12V 8.5A) gone
  • Meanwell LRS-75-12 (12V 6A)
  • Rail-mount Meanwell MDR-100-48 (48V 2A)
  • Rail-mount Meanwell MDR-20-15 (15V 1.34A)

Additionally my $6 mystery box contained a lot of other things (see attached).  If anyone wants these then PM me or ask questions here, I'm happy if anyone in Sydney wants to pick them up or if further out just pay for the cost of shipping.  Otherwise they'll end up in my bin.
  • HDMI switches & cat6 converters/splitters
  • 20M RG6 F-connector coax roll, heavy & thick blue insulation
  • Boat/nautical (waterproof?) "NMEA 2000" cables and resin-filled connector blocks.
(gone)

For me though the real gem were the boxes and boxes of Mean Well power supplies in 12V, 24V, and some 48V etc in various current capacities and form factors.
Basically  $1 to $5

It was nuts. Still pallets of them there close of business today.
That would be a good score to put on Ebay. Good it is far away from me; that is no place for a recovering hoarder.
There are small lies, big lies and then there is what is on the screen of your oscilloscope.

12V sounds low for something, I assume, with steppermotors

Pictures, as promised.

I went twice: Middle of the day on day 1 and in the morning of day 3.

Day 1 haul:

Clockwise from top left:
 - Meanwell power supplies (10 pieces in all)
 - Metal film resistors - 2 boxes
 - LED work light (normal retail product, I believe)
 - LED torch - x3 (normal retail product, I believe)
 - (under torches) 1W carbon film resistors - 3 boxes
 - Toroidal transformer 24V 7.92A
 - Plug packs (generic, various ratings) 4 pieces
 - Tube of conductive grease
 - Hot air nozzle
 - Tray of Panasonic relays 12V coil, SPDT
 - Terminal strips - x3
 - Heavy duty terminal blocks - x4
 - Small push button (yellow) - x30
 - Large push button (green) - x2
 - Digital clock - x1
 - Can of liquid electrical tape
 - Mounting nuts - 1 bag
 - Spongy washers - 1 bag
 - M3 bolts - 3 boxes (2 styles)
 - Ceramic caps - 5.6pF - x1000
 - Electrolytic caps - 4700uF 63V - x50

The damage:

Day 3 haul:

This was very much a matter of: If it looked at all interesting, grab it ... and sort it out later!

Meanwell power supplies:  (everything in this picture has the Meanwell name on it)

Everything else:

The damage:

 (This is for
EVERYTHING
  you see in
  this post!)
(Apologies for the spotting - some wayward IPA  ;D )

This shows the difference on how shopping changed over the course of the sale...

The first day it was a bit like this - piece by piece:  (There were those who were hauling pallets of stuff)

and the last day was very much like this - by the carton.

I actually asked about pricing and I was told to build a pallet and I could have it all for $50.   :'( I just didn't have the time.

Dang that looks like some great hauls, I could use some power supplies and LED worklights. It may as well all be on the moon though as the cost to get any of it to where I am would exceed the value of the stuff.

Sale of the Century right there, I don't think I have seen a clearance sale like that in, forever, not even back in the late 90s around here when local PC manufacturers were going bust left and right, not even the nearby Dick Smith (literal) fire-sale-clearance in the early 90s, and certainly not the Dick Smith closing clearance a few years back.

Just nuts.

TY for the swap @Brumby.  I'm now the happy owner of a 12V 25A Meanwell PSU for my 3d printer :)

I am still not sure if I am sad or happy I was out of town...

There is such thing as too much.  I am still shuffling piles to get to my desk.  EDIT: And hopefully something similar will happen again some time soon, perhaps in a year or two.

Edit: Snap!

Well, just dropped off a PSU to Whales ... who unloaded some of his acquisitions.  Somehow I seemed to have left with more than I brought ....  ::)  He seemed pleased about that.

We had a good chat and shared some stories.
