Keysight Scope 88% Off
« on: January 06, 2023, 11:32:48 pm »
I know they advertise on the forum, but I was just browsing the Keysight store out of curiosity and saw an older 5000 series for 88% off, $750.
And 6000 series scopes for 80% off.
Seems like they are clearing them out super cheap.
Just follow the ad link above.

Any idea what options E00, MEN8M, and MST are?  The datasheet makes no mention and Google has failed me.

Where is the link?
It's in an ad at the top of the forum page.  You need to turn off adblocking.

Also, the offer says "No accessories included".  That might mean no probes.

MEM8M would be the 8M memory, don't about the others.

No 5000 or 6000 series scope visible for me.
Maybe sold or not showing for Germany?

They show up just fine at my end. I like this deal better though:

https://saving.em.keysight.com/en/used/other-accessories/n4391a-e185224827708

90% discount!

Funny.  They are listing a lot of obsolete stuff.  I'm surprised they want anything to do with selling that.

https://saving.em.keysight.com/en/used/spectrum-signal-analyzers/e4440a-e175384628091

Is a $176,613.00 Spectrum Analyzer from 200? better than a new $17,661.30 spectrum analyzer now?

Was a $176,613.00 Spectrum Analyzer in 200? better than a new $17,661.30 spectrum analyzer now?

That is quite an impressive discount, but I wonder who the target customer is? $18k seems like it's in that awkward void well out of reach of all but the most serious hobbyists or freelance engineers, while I doubt most large corporations are going to be buying deeply discounted older gear.

My question, said another way, is... what does that old scope do that I can't buy for $18K now?

That's because they won't ship to the EU on account of RoHS issues. You can get around it with a VPN (as others have posted) but you won't actually be able to buy them unless you have a non-EU delivery address.

Clearly, they don't consider Aussies as worth protecting :)

Perhaps just changing the country to US or Australia (or other non-fussy country) on the drop-down lets them show up. I would hazard a guess that if you don't already have that set it will try and figure it out from your IP, hence Aussies get it and we don't, but manually change it and Bob's your uncle.

I didn't check the country setting yesterday, but following the link again my country showed up as US and changing it to Netherlands did shrink the list to 10. No idea still why they didn't show up yesterday  :-//

Considering the market to which this is directed, I couldn't help but LOL at the first entry of the FAQ down the bottom.

Common to buy a spare bit of kit for production so you can rotate equipment in and out during calibration or maintenance.
Also not uncommon to have a lab budget and hence a deeply discounted surplus unit might be very well received.

Sometimes your requirement is: Anything that can measure to 20GHz, to pass EMC directive.
I kinda agree with you, that a new SA is going to provide more useful features, or decoding or real time capabilities, but often times you don't care about any of that, you just want a device that allows you fulfill a regulatory requirement.

I was just looking at the DSO6012A and wonder does this DSO have some super nifty trick up its sleeve that I am missing? Otherwise I'm really confused about the price. More than 1600 bucks for a used 2 ch. 100 MHz DSO with only 90 days warranty and without accessories seems ridiculously overpriced.
