Tapatalk 4 $1 on Android
« on: August 14, 2013, 04:24:18 am »
Google Play Link
For this week only Tapatalk 4 is $1 in the Google Play Store. Version 4 is the newest version, that is now exiting  beta testing.  One big change in version 4 is the merging of the HD (for tablets)and main version of tapatalk into one single version.

For those that don't know, Tapatalk is an excellent forum reader software for your smartphone and tablet.

It might be a similar price on iOS but if so I couldn't find it.

edit:  sorry  for the  messed up link tag.  fixed it.

Tapatalk 4 was available as a free beta. The release version was released today, the release costs money.

Ah right.  I'll have to check tonight to see if it still works.  If not, it's cheap anyway.

I got that in the beta once or twice then it stopped. Not sure what it's about.

The stupid default of including an annoying advertisement line in every message is enough for me to avoid it at all costs.

Not to mention every site with Tapatalk support insisting on telling you about it every time you visit with a mobile browser.

They will never get a penny from me.

Apparently incompatible with any of my devices, but I wonder why it wants - no, needs -  these rights:

use accounts on the device
find accounts on the device
create accounts and set passwords

.. Because it uses the Android wallet to store login credentials for sites.

Wallet appears to be for credit cards and the like. But a browse turned up some stuff including this:

http://android.stackexchange.com/questions/44293/what-does-permission-manage-accounts-mean

So it's probably more benign than it first appears :)

It's.. a wallet, as far as I'm concerned. It is indeed benign, it is merely using the features available on the platform which benefit from, say, automatic backups.
