WFF - Defective parts wanted for STEM Camp
« on: May 05, 2016, 07:03:10 pm »
Hello,

I am setting up a school project to get kids interested in EE. As a part of this program scheduled for July 2016 we are need of electronic components for the kids to test. Such as resistors, transistors, caps, diodes, Mosfets, simple IC's maybe. No transformers please. We need to make sure the part(s) data sheet are still available online so the students can use then to determine if the component has failed. They will have access to multimeters, oscilloscopes, LCR/ESR meters, even transistor test equipment. This will be qa summer camp of 3 weeks. Pklease only send failed/bad components and no PCB's too.

Please PM me for address contact info.

Thank You for participating.

just place an order with an ebay seller.

about half of your parts will be bad or out of spec.

usually has free shipping, too (lol)

Their marketing department would have jumped on this.  Advertising into a group of potential decision makers - Priceless!

But, yes, by all means drop a name.  They made an effort, so that's worth a mention.

I want to, but the school has to approve it. As I myself a 2nd year EE student at the school. I did not think any manufacture would agree, but I put together a whole 100 page proposal and sent it to them. I thought it got canned becuase stupid me did not send it to marketing but rather their educational department and it was the marketing department that answered not by email but by Smail on letter head! and that was back in February and the response came until today with a partial shipment. Cannot wait until tomorrow to tell and show my professor!

That is pretty cool. I have encountered some components working in some unusual ways before. I had a mpf102 which would amplify the signal when fed in one pin(incorrect one), or attenuate the signal(gate pin).

Yep! sometimes things happen in unexpected ways at unexpected times - as my grandmother would always say to me. I am thinking of stepping up and using a couple (60) of 1st year circuit designs I made and replacing components with failed ones and letting the kids trouble shoot those boards too.
