where to buy Atmega32U2-MU in Aus?
« on: December 05, 2013, 10:05:28 am »
I need to replace the Atmega32U2-MU USB controller on my Ardupilot board.  this is the same chip as used on Arduino mwgas but has twice the memory of the specified Arduino mega part.
I have checked with the usual suspects like RS, E14 etc. none stock this device locally. I can get one from the US but D/key want $40 in frieght for a $4 part that can only weigh 5g max.
So any hints on where I might a local supplier ?

Cheers
Rob

RS have the 32u4 version in stock for about $5 with free shipping.  Probably need to recompile for that device, but it's otherwise the same but with more ram.

Yes I tried RS as a first round of suppliers, unfortunately they do not stock the -MU version ie they are stocking the wrong package.
so far the chinese ebay seller looks to be the best bet.  IC is for an APM2.5 autopilot system so everything has been miniturised as board real estate is not large.
