WTB(UK) Used frequency counter
« on: October 13, 2016, 12:26:30 pm »
Hi

Having discussed this a bit in another thread I am now looking for a frequency counter. I basically want to tune up some RTCs that run off crystals. I have gotten hold of a OCXO oscillator so just need a frequency counter to plug it into I believe. I have no idea really what to get but I dont want to spend much money on this.

I have seen on ebay Thandar TF810/ TF830 that look okay but I am not judge really. Can anyone recommend any other second hand counters that would do the job?

Thanks

Trev

TF810 will do the trick.  It has an external standard input.

Basically look for ones that have an external reference/standard input and enough counts for what you need and aren't some shitty no brand thing and you can't lose.

The TF810 looks a bit expensive (~£100) for a fairly limited counter.

I have a Philips PM6666 that needs a home. For the same price as those Thandars, I'll throw in a KS24361 GPSDO. This contains a good quality OCXO and only needs the addition of a cheap GPS receiver to lock it to GPS standards.
