Hi folks,

I'm a noob, just picked up a $49 Xprotolab to play around with using my Raspberry Pi and Arduino and then watched Dave's driving rant about the DSO Nano and how you can get cheap or free used old analog scopes around that actually are much better, and not "toys".

I've never had a scope before so I was excited to see the Xprotolab in that tiny package and may still use it as a wave generator or sniffer, and maybe use the Arduino's scope function with a computer. It is probably not a bad buy, but if I can't really learn on it and really experience what Dave said would be a better learning growth then that's why a real scope is something more useful to me.

So if anyone has an old scope colllecting dust that they would like to unload to a newbie electronic hobbyist, I would greatly appreciate it.

I am in Toronto (Vaughan specifically) and shipping is obviously a factor so cost may be prohibitive. I wish I knew some lab or junk depot that had some old scopes they were trying to get rid of. I may have some things in the basement to trade for it or buy it.

On the other hand if you think the xprotolab will suit me fine for now (Dave says those like it are simply toys and won't help me learn much) then let me know. Otherwise a real scope that I could learn on would be welcome. Thanks so much!

Sincerely,
Edy
