Where's the $10,000 SATA cable for the HDD connection on the NAS, and the PureCrystal Molex power connectors to reduce the HDD jitter?

How much could I request for some multimode fiber patch cables with SC or LC connectors?  >:D

Make sure the connectors are gold plated and you'll be laughing.  :-+

I very much like having a nice sound system, and I sort of get people falling for OTT wires and cables for analogue signals though I'm often found talking people out of them, but for digital I'm really coming to the conclusion they should just be left to it.

hundreds of kilometres of crappy wiring just behind the socket.
do you live in a third world country or do you always exaggerate? Here the wiring between a house and the distribution transformer is less than a few hundred meters.

Where does the distribution transformer get its power from?
(It has to travel over hundreds of km of wire...)

Sure but here that is no crappy wiring IMHO

Sure, but it's crappy compared to a $1000/m power cable (if we're using audiophool analogies here.) Gosh, they don't even use oxygen free copper; how will the electrons even make it to the amplifier without getting awfully confused and increasing the power-line jitter! And power-line jitter seriously affects the dynamic contrast and stereo imaging of the amplifier. You might as well not bother with gold plating your optical cable, if you're going to go that far. Don't forget to properly shield the cable and use the right impedance to avoid TL reflections!

About crappy wiring, that remindet me, amongst other things, of this:

Quote
This particular outlet was an "audiophile grade" outlet. Unfortunately the customer installed aluminum solid core in-wall wiring.

The other one i can not dig up, the backstage photo from the trade show were the high end power cables were plugged into a wall outlet that was barely hanging on.
Wired up with cable i would not use on a lightbulb because it looked that thin.

That's weird. But not more than Polish "oh, those are this kind of shoes", meaning basically the same :-//

You mean like these?

The logo on that second site is... strangely appropriate. :D

I can picture some IT managers seeing this and requesting that all servers use them because it will speed up the network.  :P

I'd be more worried about the AC waveform transition at the wall plate - from copper/aluminium house cabling to the super-deluxe Gold impregnated audiofool-grade mains cable.

Impedance mismatches, reflections from the LNE (balanced) transmission line - brass pins - copper / gold cable would be better served with some small 5c capacitors to soak up the various reflections and ringing.

Oh no - I've suggested a new audiofool gadget!@
Don't ask a question if you aren't willing to listen to the answer.
