That really is simply awesome!  Can't see when it was published, but I might guess something like the '60s...

Grabbing the original... that belongs in a frame!

Hadn't looked it the original yet.  '44?  Wow.  Impressive.  Now that you mention it, some of the fonts do look a bit "art deco"...

Lucky you... I'm going to have to ask one of my customers to print it for me on one of their plotters... give 'em a break on some work in exchange, but I think that'll be worth it.

Now I just have to come up with a frame design worthy of it!   :-+

Well... The speed of light in vacuum constant written on the poster is not valid anymore.
It was defined as 299 792 458 m/s in 1983. :)

 :-+Thanks. This is so cool!
Already going through the local print houses to have a couple of them rendered. The pixel size seems to be a perfect fit for a 70x100 cm poster too.

The value of Planck's Constant has been refined a bit, as well.

The Radio frequency allocations for various uses have changed somewhat.

Frequencies are now measured in Hertz; the chart lists them in cycles per second or waves per second.

Of course the interesting thing about this chart is to see what has and hasn't changed.  By and large, the science hasn't changed, but much of the technology illustrated has.

Imagine how they had to make a poster like that before computers.

Artists had to draw all the individual pieces of artwork in pen and ink, then they had to paste up all the pictures neatly onto a big board, keeping everything neatly square and aligned, then they had to photograph it (or scan it) using a giant camera with different color filters so they could print it using a photolithographic process.

Radio waves, really?  Nobody listens to the radio anymore.  It's all digital now.  I just don't understand why you guys care so much about obsolete technology.

 ;)

Notice the wink.  Seriously though, this is neat.  I wish I could get it printed.

Hello All,
Since I'm going to have the print shop that's located close to my home print out a copy of the Electromagnetic Spectrum poster, I spent some time in Photoshop fixing some of the subtle damage the image has before getting the poster made.

I left the original dimensions and resolution (300dpi) of the file as they were, but I fixed many of the scratches and crease marks on the image, plus I reconstructed the letters that had small sections missing from them. I made no attempt to sharpen the image or change its colors/saturation in any way. The antique poster looks great the way it is.

Here's the URL of my large cleaned-up version of the poster image, just in case anyone else has a use for it (file size 12MB).

Really nice.

Also, edited by Arthur Holly Compton, Nobel prize winner in physics who discovered the Compton effect: inelastic x-ray scattering, a important advance in the understanding of the photon theory of electromagnetism.  Definitely going to print up a poster.

Nice. That would be awesome to have as a poster.

Someone should get several copies made and sell them to forum members :)
