Chess: Automated Board
« on: January 08, 2018, 01:26:37 pm »
There is a  https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/infivention/square-off-worlds-smartest-chess-board-relaunched kick starter project for a chess board where the pieces are moved using a magnet.

This project reminds me of Fidelity Phantom Chess (as described here... https://www.microsoft.com/buxtoncollection/detail.aspx?id=180)

The Phantom's are very collectable but 1980s tech... I'm quite intrigued by the new version  (and amazed they aren't being pursued by the original patent owner).

Does anyone have one?  I would be interested in a tear-down/photo of the mechanism.

Thanks in advance

PS

I also stumbled across this...   very fun
