Posters - What do you have hanging around?
« on: January 17, 2026, 04:09:56 pm »
Been wanting to add imagery onto the boring white walls of my home, and I think I want to add some nerdy posters. I've already downloaded the 1944 Chart of Electromagnetic Radiations a more modern revision, as well as the Periodic Table of the Elements - Emission Spectra, but I need more ideas. Got suggestions? What do you have hanging around?

I recommend getting some demotivational posters. You are an individual, just like everyone else.

I would also take a look at printing some circuits you like.

So everyone is clear, Calibration = Taking Measurement against a known source, Verification = Checking Calibration against Specification, Adjustment = Adjusting the unit to be within specifications.

Somewhere (not on any of my walls, unfortunately) I have a copy my all-time favorite poster, the Fine Woodworking picture of the Studley toolchest:

(The toolchest was built by Henry O. Studley, a piano and organ maker from Massachusetts who worked from the late 19th to the early 20th century.)

I assume you really mean around the home, rather than your workspace/lab?

If you really meant the latter, then the walls of my lab are full of storage shelves and equipment racks..... you can't afford to waste space with a poster!

But if you really mean the living space in your home, my pro tip is to avoid anything with too much informational text (artistic text is ok).

My preference is astronomical pictures, whether actual pictures from Mars rovers, Hubble or JWST, or fake AI generated galaxy collisions or Jupiter rise from the surface of Io.

Maybe buy one of Noopy's calendars, with high-res microscope pics of bare silicon dies.  https://shop.meinbildkalender.de/richis-lab//?&katid=6261  Or PM him, maybe he has posters, too.

I always wanted this one since i saw it in one of Dave's videos:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Infographics/comments/10vwco4/chart_of_electromagnetic_radiations_from_1944/

I couldn't find a properly cleaned up version back then, but apparently there are some available now.
