Yeah, $130 for a fluke 189 is an excellent deal. I think I paid €150 (about $180 at current exchange rate) for one a number of years ago. $317 is more than I would be willing to pay without calibration or warranty, it's too close to the new price of something like a Fluke 87 in my opinion.

Same here, I got lucky on ebay on Fluke 87-5 for US $222.50 + $13.72 shipping with all the extras like carrying bag, magnetic and nonmagnetic hangers, some strange looking probes I have never seen before, and the regular stuffs. After receiving it, I wiped it clean and install screen protector on. I noticed on the back, the top pad was hardly even cut by the tilting bail. So I rushed to check the date on the probe. Sure enough, it was newer than the one I purchased last week from Fry's electronic for nearly $400 total and all I got was mainly the meter and probes.

Fry's unit dated 09-03-2009
Ebay unit dated 10-06-2009

I inspected the ebay unit and I think that it wasn't use at all ,even the carrying bag was like spanking new. Oohh... I love ebay now...

Kiriakos-GR, I like the aluminum case for the fluke 87v in some of your photos. Did you get it on ebay and if so does your seller still carry it?

Well I had kick the seller @#@#@@  , because this case was used ... as expected ... but it had some small bumps on it ...  unfortunately  I have  eat all the ebay by the spoon , and did not found the exact item.

Found similar with  not curved aluminum , for 25$ .

Found with curved aluminum , but you had to search for " RC remote control case "  " Helicopter remote control case " ..  But they are damn expensive ..  ( over priced )

Thanks for the search word searches. Dang, your aluminum case is much better than the original plastic fluke case.

Just as a fyi the 189 will work with the cable that comes with the 289 and flukeview software  ;D

I had (have) a 189 and my wife suprised me with a 289 package with the cable and software from Frys a few weeks ago.  When I held the cable up to the little IR window on the 189 it recognized it in the software and allowed me to do data logging and set features.

Not sure if those cables come up often on ebay though...

Nice meter you got! great score!

Hey, does any one of you need Flukeview Forms? :D
Message me. ;D

When the first firmware update for Fluke 287/289 came out, Fluke started giving away the IR-USB communication cable that fits on top of the 180 and 280 series multimeters to allow everyone with a 287/289 to update the firmware. I believe this practice has since been discontinued, but it's still possible to buy one...
No need to buy Flukeview Forms though... ;D
At least not from Fluke for $150+.
I'm talking FVF-SC2 with Designer, version 3.5.
