I actually had a team of young engineers do this small "experiment" in lab, they didn't believe that it would make the capacitor explode.

Genuinely seen that happen to a SMD ferite on a board

Not only did it glow just like a yellow LED in color but it kept glowing for at least 5 seconds before a coworker went "Well it looks like it is on....Wait, we don't have a power LED on these boards!" and turned off the power in a real hurry.
