It seems like here in Europe we will just have to wait for a price drop =/
Sounds more like if you order a DS1052E from Saelig now they automatically send you a DS1102E. I don't see they offer to upgrade already sold DS1052Es.

I spoke to Saelig and Rigol tech support in Ohio USA today about availability of a software upgrade from Rigol to make the 1052 into a 1102. Saelig sent me to Rigol and Rigol states there is no firmware upgrade available for the 1052. The upgrade shown on the Saelig site is Physicaly getting a 1102 when you order a 1052, not an upgraded 1052. When I mentioned that it is obvious from various electronics forums that the hardware is identical and can be upgraded by software. They said they were aware of it but do not support it.
Do you know if Saelig or Tequipment will send you the difference if you've purchased a 1052 within 10 days of their price drop?
I bought their DS1052E on Nov 20th from their Amazon site, anyone know if they'd honor their price difference refund from a purchase so close to their price drop date? I emailed their site but haven't gotten a reply. Scope already arrived, I'm in the hospital so I can't get my hands on it .

Why don't you just ask them? They have e-mail. Both of them.
Saelig is sold out of the DS1102E.
As is usually the case, whenever a piece of gear I want comes down in price, I'm tempted to jump on it, but then find myself wondering. "Hmm if the price just dropped, maybe there's a newer/better model lurking around the corner"
So, any speculation that there may be a 200 mhz entry-level unit in the wings? or some other new improved unit that I'll wish I had waited for?
John South from Emona here in Australia has told me they now also have the 1052E and 1102E at very close to the new US prices, AU$329 for the 1052E and AU$420 for the 1102E.
He might chip in here with some more details.
Dave.

I can verify that Emona Instruments have now dropped the price of the DS1052E to $329 (EX-GST) and the DS1102E to $420 (EX-GST), which puts their prices almost on parity with the US.
I have just bought a DS1102E for $420 (EX-GST) costing me in total $489.50 (INC-GST and Delivery). I think this is an excellent price considering we are buying from Australia, the unit comes pre-calibrated with the Australian plug, 3 years warranty which Emona covers in-house, and I have to say that Emona have excellent customer service.
I think it is also worth mentioning that Emona are selling these units at a loss to be on parity (or as close as possible) with US pricing. This just shows the way Emona goes about its business. Just brilliant!
I would highly recommend Emona for anyone considering purchasing the Rigol DS1052E or DS1102E.
Regards,
Chris M
Also, how do you know that Emona is taking a loss??
I can confirm that Chris is NOT affiliated with emona, just a customer. No need for any skepticism, just a co-incidental first post that Chris just happened to have direct first hand experience with.

Although someone may claim they are "taking a loss", they are not likely losing money on the deal. Otherwise their business would not remain in business for long.
