Techmoan and AvE and a few others have been doing videos about Jerobeam Fenderson's oscilloscope music, which is some mind blowing fun. Synthesis was never as cool as this. Hard to pick a favorite.

Better than watching the video, if you have an appropriate oscilloscope you can feed the left and right channels from your sound card in to the scope. The sound on the youtube videos produces those images directly. It's kind-of freaky to know that those images are in the sound that you are hearing.

Does anyone know how the voice effects are made in the following video at 0:38?

The images show that signal amplitude remains relatively large even when the voice fades. My guess would be that a low-frequency (<100Hz) has been added to the signal. It should be possible to capture the audio signal and explore its content on your computer with something like Audacity.

Quick and dirty comparison. Download the scope from here: https://www.zeitnitz.eu/scope_en - Installed and worked without a hitch. License only required for commercial use. In the settings tab you can find the audio routing options if it doesn't just work out of the box for you. Nice little piece of software. I messed around with some other stuff that kept spitting back errors and found this. It's got a signal generator (w formula input), frequency analyzer, audio recorder, etc. You can break various things into separate windows. I was fairly pleased to be using the signal gen and the scope/xy seconds after it opened. Worth a download, I think.

If you mean that the XY graphics don't look as good on your software scope as they do in the Youtube videos, I would be inclined to blame it on the software scope rather than on Youtube.  

Even many "real" digital scopes (with dedicated hardware) struggle to produce a good, smooth XY display. I still get my old 20 MHz analog scope out for XY visualization.

Definitely. Using the XY mode of scopes to emulate a "vector" display often gives crappy results with most modern scopes in general.
