The Official 2014 Christmas Pressies Thread
« on: December 24, 2014, 02:45:05 pm »
Guess what? It's Christmas time! In the festive spirit of receiving, post your electronics related pressies for 2014.

I'll start the ball rolling with five Fluke 27/FM multimeters with accessories "my wife brought" for $100. No group shot yet as I'm cleaning them, but thanks to the US Army they are still in top condition with cal stickers. Essayons! Merry Christmas!

Well, I bought some components from Tayda.  Showed up much earlier than I'd expected, so I count that as a present from the postal services.  :-)

(LM13700 OTAs for playing with audio circuits, mini breadboards, audio connectors, pots, and a few other things)

My kids don't get home until tomorrow so I don't get to open my presents until the 26 :(

Hoping my wife actually got me some gear this year but I have to wait one more day.

Another present from the postal services here. I received my Adafruit order two days before Christmas, when I ordered it about 2 weeks after their Christmas order-by date. I'm going to open it after all of the actual presents tomorrow—I doubt any of those are EE-related; my family would have no idea what to give me!
I refuse to use AD's LTspice or any other "free" software whose license agreement prohibits benchmarking it (which implies it's really bad) or publicly disclosing the existence of the agreement. Fortunately, I haven't agreed to that one, and those terms are public already.

It has been decided that no presents be opened until after we eat. That being said I know I'm getting a NetGear wireless AC router since I was told by my wife that her mom didn't know which one to get for me , so pick it out.

Kids woke up at 6am this morning. They are happy with their gifts.  :)

I received my DS1054z from TEquipment two days ago, ahead of the anticipated shipping date. It's my first piece of "real" test equipment.  :-+
It's perfectly acceptable to not know something in the short term. To continue to not know over the long term is just laziness.

I got a  Casio EX-ZR1000, which is a digital compact that can film at 1000 fps in a strange resolution of 224x64, or 224x160 at 480 fps.

Not sure if this is just "too much information" or a typo.  :o  Hope it's the latter.  :-DD

On a more serious note, I've a hot air station that's scheduled for delivery for Monday (Quick 861DW). I've also some funds for a parts order in the near future as well.

I got a Rigol DS1102E oscilloscope and a Mastech MS8268 multimeter. I am a senior in high school getting ready for college and this should help me build and test my own electronics projects. I know the multimeter is not top notch but it's good enough for my needs. If anyone has used the rigol DS1102E before any user feedback or advice would be appreciated, Happy Holidays EEVBlog Community.

Why not a DS1054Z instead of the 1102E?  :-//

My dad got it for me, I didn't choose it but it will serve my needs and it's free for me so no complaints here :)

I got myself a nice compact Black & Decker power screwdriver.  The whizzy thing is the gyroscope sensor chip which provides direction and speed control completely naturally by twisting the tool on its axis. No direction switch, no speed pot, etc.  Nice and compact, great torque and speed range.  I love it.  I found a "teardown" video of it even....
