CDBUS GUI is an open-source, cross-platform serial communication tool that supports register read/write, debug logging, waveform visualization, IAP firmware updates, and more. It is built with Python + Web technologies.
Source code:
https://github.com/dukelec/cdbus_guiA while ago, I added CSV waveform export, making it easier to feed captured data to AI for analysis and troubleshooting.
Today, I went one step further and added an HTTP API to the GUI. While the GUI is running, an AI agent can now control it autonomously, including:
Reading and writing registers to control target motion
Capturing debug logs
Capturing waveform segments
Performing IAP firmware updates
Configuring waveform channels
The usage is pretty simple: just let the AI read the GUI's README documentation and give it a task.
For example, the screenshot below shows Claude Code automatically tuning PID parameters. The blue text in the GUI's log window is the operation log generated by the AI.
In the latest version, waveform channels can also be configured directly from the web interface, and the AI can configure them autonomously as well.

CDBUS allows UART to perform arbitration like CAN bus, with speeds up to 50 Mbps:
(CDBUS can also be used with standard UART interfaces)
