Open Source Handheld Temperature Sensor Mgmt Device
« on: May 16, 2026, 12:56:08 pm »
Hi everyone,

If you’re using iButton Thermochrons for cold chain monitoring, you know the drill: they are indestructible and reliable, but getting the data off them usually involves manual docking stations and a lot of "boots on the ground" time.

I’m a developer/hardware engineer and I’ve spent the last few months building an open source handheld solution. It acts as a gateway that manages the iButtons, pulls the temperature logs automatically, and is capable of pushing them to the cloud via Wi-Fi.

Why I’m posting here: I’m trying to see if this is something the wider logistics community actually needs, and to get some exposure to a wider audience for an although niche product idea.

Would a portable, IoT-enabled iButton reader change your workflow?

What’s the biggest "missing feature" in your current temperature logging setup?

I’d love it if you could take a look and, if this looks useful for your operation, or you would just like to be supportive, subscribe for updates while we move toward a crowdfunding campaign.

Thanks for any feedback or critiques!
