TermDriver 2 is a USB-to-serial interface with a built-in screen. It supports baud rates from 1200 to 2 Mbit, all the while showing critical line status and traffic on its tiny yet full-featured monitor. The terminal emulation supports standard ANSI escape codes, so colors and layout are faithfully reproduced on the TermDriver display.

You can use TermDriver 2 just like any other fully featured USB serial adapter. It supports high speeds and includes a 32 KB input buffer, capable of supplying up to 350 mA at 3.3 V. TermDriver 2 can also operate independently of USB, allowing it to be added as a console to embedded systems, such as a Raspberry Pi.

Downside: USB micro connector

I ordered one, it looks neat, and I appear to collect serial adapters for some reason.

Looking forward to getting my two.  I have several immediate uses for them, one requiring custom firmware for packet decoding.

I also have some of the excamera SPIdriver units from back in 2018.  Nice implementation, but I have to admit I haven't used them much.  Not even sure where I have put them.  |O

Oh boy do I know that feeling!!

I've collected so many serial adapters over the years its maddening. I had toyed with the idea of trying to build something that would just "figure out the pins used and so on À la Jtagulator. (I have one of those too)  ::)

I got a shipping notification for my TermDriver 2.

Looking forward to having a go with it.

I was expecting mine today, but they apparently decided to stop over for another day in Honolulu.

And it arrived. Appears to have been shipped by Mouser.

I was buying a car yesterday so I missed the delivery.  They will likely try again on Monday.

Yes, Crowd Supply is owned by Mouser - so Mouser handle their fulfillment.

Have you tried it yet?  If so, any comments/thoughts?

Got mine now.  They power on fine, but neither of them are recognised in Windows.

They are supposed to support CDC ACM device class, so no drivers needed.  I've tried multiple microUSB cables and two computers (Win10).
I also bought some USB-C to microUSB adapters from AliExpress so I could use them with my usual USB-C connection at the bench, but also no go.

No files other than some 3D models have been uploaded to the github repo at https://github.com/jamesbowman/termdriver2
The 3D printed pins holding the display surround to the PCB are way to thin and break very easily.

Anyone else having more success?

In case anyone else has issues with their TD2 not being recognised as a USB serial device, it is likely that R2 & R3 were populated with the wrong value resistor.

Mentioned by someone else on the GitHub repo, and replacing them with 27R 0402 parts fixed my two devices.

Edit: Wow, the font is way too tiny for my older eyes!
