Hahahahaha!  That's a beauty!
At least he's only totalled $0.00 in funding so far, not enough to pay for the "solenoids" to go inside it...

Only 30 headbands left. Did you notice how you can't actually pledge to get the "real deal", only blueprints for it? I'm a little tiny bit skeptical if this thing will work.

Our biggest challenge has been completing this wonderful device via 3D printing.
Quote
When fully discharged, the LAUPS takes 13hours to recharge completely from typical ambient WIFI and radio sources not more than 20 meters and 100 meters away respectively of combined minimum energy intensities of 50mw per square centimeters.
Ok, so a 20m sphere, an antenna emitting 251 MEGAWatt of energy will have 0,5 milliwatt/square centimeters at the edge. The biggest issue is surely the 3D printing, not the antenna you are standing next to.
Is he troll or stupid?

And the only material reward (the headband) is also US-only delivery.

I love it! "One of these energy harvester doohickeys gives me 30mW! So I just have to parallel up 5000 of them and BAM 140 watts! All from the 400mW output from this WiFi router here. Radio waves truly are magic!

He has designed a nice looking box for it.

This looks to me like spam with the goal of driving traffic to that 3D printing service, or pushing it up higher in the search engines, nothing more.

You mean APC designed a nice looking box for it...

What?  That's not even close to what's being shown in the CAD.

Not sure if it helps, but I sent a note to Kickstarter. It's one thing to be optimistic, it's another thing to make shit up from thin air - including energy. He is trying to collect money from people. Even though it will not likely fund, it should be squashed earlier.

i.materialise is a pretty well established 3D printing service, I seriously doubt that they'd find it necessary to resort to something like this to get more traffic. Especially considering that one of the URLs has a typo in it.

2 backers....

1. Mom
2. Dad

Now they need to get ready to re-define physics so they can deliver.
