PCB Modifications with a ground plane
« on: June 05, 2025, 08:40:35 am »
Hi

Thank you for reading ....

We are looking at modifying a PCB we designed about 6 years ago .... Just adding some 2 resistors and 2 Leds

It has a ground plane .....   We have placed the componants, connected with rat lines and autorouted

But it gives more errors than we can document .....

Question is do we need to remove the groundplane before autoroute  or am i missing something here

Thank You for any help

Andy

Send me an e-mail to pvo317@gmail.com.
Specify what you want to change.
I'll try to make one.

Are the errors from the newly-routed traces clashing with the ground plane? Sounds like you might just need to re-pour the ground plane (Objects menu, Update All Copper Pours).

The auto-router in DipTrace is not very good. I have never found it to be useful.

you have to select the ground plane and have it re-pour so it floods and takes the new positions/components into account. diptrace does not automatically reflood the fills/pours.

Go to the menu bar > Objects > Update All Copper Pours.

I know this is a little late, but it might help someone else.
