Had to post this - how to disconnect solar panels live on a sunny day  https://www.youtube.com/shorts/hF9gZvCh70g?feature=share

 :palm:

I guess tarps/blankets to throw over the panels are a yet-to-be-discovered technology in that part of the world...

Just found this on Doncaster Cables website. It says 84 strands at 0.283mm but the next column says 0.3mm!

No, they list the strand diameter as 0.283mm, and the overall conductor diameter as 3.02mm.

IMHO, the take away here is, if you are going to buy drums of solar cable , make sure you test a sample before parting with your cash, If a decent length is available, say 100m, 500m the a 4 point resistance measurement is what industry does (but you need a quality meter with a precalibration made beforehand)

Got a cable from a solarcable brand K**. Had 80 strands with 80x0.28mm, which comes out at 4.92mm².

I checked on other cables i have bought (only one is a solar cable)(Germany):
4 out of 5 were wrong crosssections, by about 20%.  :--

EB & Ale are full of fake stuff why would you think that cable is any different.
when it cums to things that are going to burn down your house just bye brand name components from real suppliers.
specs from 6mm sold in Aus

Inner insulation XLPE
Sheath XLPO
1500 V DC
78 x Ø 0.30  tinned copper
Conductor resistance @20c / km  3.39 Ω
Weight 78KG Kilometer
Rated current 70A

The fake stuff doesent even have a UV stable outer sheath, not that sunlight is a problem in the UK :)
