While I didn't get the book for this, I have learned more from it about PCB layout than most books I've read: Electromagnetic Compatibility Engineering by Ott.

I go this to make sure I understood what causes and how to prevent EMI in the new high speed board I am working on, so we can get FCC certification.  It gave me a real understanding of pitfalls for high speed circuits.

This won't be much help in laying out big power circuits.

Good book, at least to me, need a registration though, but free for entire book approx. 22MB PDF file.

-> Lee W. Ritchey -> Right The First Time : A Practical Handbook on High Speed PCB and System Design

Edit: Some of my favourites quoting the book ...  >:D

Quote
Right angle bends do not cause signal integrity problems at any practical edge speed
Right angle bends also do not cause EMI
Right angle bends are not acid trap
There is no good technical reason to prevent the use of right angle bends to route traces in a PCB.

"Vias used to route signal from one layer to another do not have a significant impact on signal quality even with 200 ps edges."

Year ago, I stared PCB design with the help of a great book
I have been using OrCAD since then.

Complete PCB Design Using OrCAD Capture and PCB Editor

There are 3 kinds of people in this world, those who can count and those who can not.

Hello Pariah,

PCB industry is mainly based on practical. I suggest to have a theoretical knowledge, but more you practice the more you learn.
