Gerber Viewer for Android

Hello All,

I came across this excellent gerber viewer app for android. Works perfectly. No more PC needed to view gerber files... The app is very small in size without any bloatware... works perfectly on both mobile and tablets..

You store your gerbers on the phone?

I understand that a designer might save their designs in their tab but I don't think anyone will normally save designs in mobile. It will eat up lots of memories. However, checking from mobile might be needed in case of emergency. For example, a manager who is away from office, waiting at a doctor's chamber or nursing a family member at the hospital might quickly need to check a gerber sent by his subordinate and approve it. Yeah, it can help in those cases.

You store your gerbers on the phone? 

I store production gerbers in the cloud drive, and my phone does have access to that drive. So while files are not stored on the phone, I can still access them when I need it.

I probably wouldn't want to do it on a phone... but could see a bigger tablet being useful if you're not at a computer and want to see pcb/schematics/etc...

Am attaching some screenshots of the app with a sample gerber(only top copper and drill layers are enabled).

The app is really so excellent. It's not something that what we going to do by opening a gerber file on a mobile or tablet. We can inspect the gerber on the go without a PC.

The app supports zip file opening, it can measure the length between 2 points, mainly if you touch on any pad it will locate the x,y as well as the size of the pad if it is square or rectangle and diameter if it is round pad. When you touch on the drill mark it says the location as well the drill size. Highly useful.

I have attached mobile screenshot only. The app works so good in tablet screen. The app size is so small like less than 2MB so it doesn't need huge system resource and open the files instantly.

I would never check designs on my phone .... may be coz I'm a millenial .... but I dont find this app of any use
