Saturn PCB asks for credentials?
« on: May 06, 2023, 07:23:19 am »
Hi guys, maybe I'm just incompetent or maybe I missed something but as far as I can remember downloading the Saturn PCB Toolkit directly from https://saturnpcb.com/ was never an issue. However, just now I wanted to download the latest version (I've been working with 8.21 for some time now) and when I go to their website it wants me to log in. I don't recall it doing that before and their social media presence doesn't suggest anything of the sort. I though my ISP is funky so I tried VPN and proxy approaches but to no avail. I also can't find anything concrete on the web suggesting other people are experiencing the same so I was just curious: Do you guys know anything about it? Did something happen? Am I just stupid?

I'm fine to continue to work with 8.21 for sure, it just kind of bugs me on a "why can't I get behind the reason for this" level.

Also, sorry if there's other threads dealing with this topic already. I couldn't find any but I'd be happy with a link in that case.

Looks like a web server problem.  That is the standard login box when protection is put onto a folder, in this case, the root and everything below it.  Someone has dropped an .htaccess file into the root to password protect it.

Guess they may have been hacked or are doing some maintenance, and this is how they have prevented access until they're done.

I see, that makes sense. Thank you, I'll try again in a few days and post results in case anyone's interested.
