« on: January 11, 2023, 11:21:57 am »
hi
I created the following simple design (see image)
with clock_50 input doesn't show in the pin planner
after successful analysis and elaboration
please advise how to add it to the pins list
thank you!

You have selected show pins by 'Groups'.
So, only grouped, multipin bus/ports will appear.
Switch / enable 'View all pins' window selector which should show all IO pins, not just pin groups.

I advise using the Assignment Editor, rather than the pin planner, unless you have a very complex pinout that you really need to visualise.

AE allows pins to be allocated, but also voltage levels, drive strength, I/O voltage and so on - all of which need to be specified anyway.

I assigned the following (see image)
I ran the compilation and it ended successfully
I ran the programmer successfully
but the LEDs do not count so I guess
a. the clock is wrong (?)
b. the chip I have is almost the same as I choose because the full chip type is not in the list of Quartos - how I can find the full chip type?

thank you!

Did you try pressing the key.  In one of your modes, the LEDs would count super slow.

Yes, the chip number needs to be the same.  Though you can get away with a different final - speed grade suffix IE: C8/C7/C6/I7, but the real chip number should be available.

Note you are using a very old Quartus, however this should not affect anything if you chose the right chip number...

Are you sure you have the right pin numbers?
Are you sure your clock is oscillating?

Chip selection is ok.

You have a different error.

You did not assign specific IO pins to your nets.  You only chose which bank those IO should go to.  Quartus could have placed those nets anywhere in the chosen 'IO_BANK_1'.
Only the 'KEY[0]' net has been assigned to the specific 'PIN_7'.
