To help you on your troublesome journey from the past into the present maybe you could use the systemd playground to practice with and let us all know where it's going wrong.
Not a chance in hell....
All my infra-structure heavily depends on proper network interface initializations...
FileSystem from NAS and Workstations properly attached and authentication managed easily by all internal allowed clients..
Things evolved 2 decades working without problems...
Who in perfect mental health would just ditch 1 or 2 decades or safe working infra structure.. just to embrace that systemd thingy ?
What really that thing offers for heavily configured infra structure ?
Answer = NOTHING - nada = ZERO.
Made to oversimplify deployments (CLOUD?) from the own sponsors..
Guess who sponsors ?
Their business is the same for over 3 decades... as far i can remember..
I ditched that by 90s..
No possible way back.... what "
modern" a 90s buz has to offer ?
NADA
Problem is that GPU closed source drivers are shrunk to 2 may be 1 option..
From the dozen options at 2000s...
That is a concern ahead
.. and considering the Software Defined LICENSEES at silicon level...
GPUs are another thing to ditch.. as soon as an alternative is available
