Is AMD microcode update safer now?

AMD's microcode seems not verified in old k8 systems: https://www.realworldtech.com/forum/?threadid=35566&curpostid=35566
Are there any improvements like validation or encrption since then? If yes, it began with which series?

2004... I'm pretty sure their current uArch doesn't have anything to do with that ancient stuff :P
