Reputable Source of Laptop Batteries?
« on: August 30, 2020, 04:01:02 pm »
Few months ago, I took a gamble buying new batteries for Toshiba Satellite P50t-A on eBay. Unsurprising to no one, the batteries were complete garbage. One of those fake Chinese rubbish that practically held no charge, and then were completely dead a few weeks later. But I'm not giving up just yet. Can anyone here recommend reputable battery suppliers for older laptops?

It is quite a while since I bought one but I remember using Duracell site. They have lasted me years! Not sure if they ship to your location.

I brought some camera batteries a couple of years ago from Duracell and they don't feel cheap or light but still working and no problems.

I remembered I phoned up to find out whether they make those battery themselves before deciding to buy them with questions about the weight of the actual battery. I got put through to someone (in England and not India which is good and inspires my confidence) and they who got back to be and said  they buy them from a manufacturer called 2-Power.

I have a few universal car laptop power supplies from 2-power (with the automatic voltage set according to the tips) which work fine and seem to be well built. I brought a Greencell battery last year for someone from Amazon (not the thin lithium polymer type) and that seemed okay but the reviews seem pick and mix.

I was looking for a HP battery from a laptop that was only two years new and for some reason HP stopped making this particular battery despite still selling that model. I was recommended a supplier from but they seem to have different part numbers for their generic/third party batteries. https://uk.eetgroup.com/

Battery Hookup is one good source for good quality 18650s. Disassemble the old pack and replace the cells with new ones.

The 18650 won't cut the mustard either, i'm afraid. The Toshiba uses one of those flat pack PA5107U-1BRS types:

New Egg is another source and they seem to have Australia covered. Of course, they do not make it themselves. however, you can go back to them if it does not work. The US site has what you want: https://www.newegg.com/p/16J-010P-07R82

Check if you can get it from the Aus. site.

Years ago I took my laptop battery to a local supplier that specialized in repacking them, it worked out a lot cheaper than an OEM battery and was as good.
