It's sad that I received a PM stating that new member cannot get the code until they've been proven worthy. If you don't want to PM the code to new members, then don't PM them to insult them like that. I've always been a fan of Dave, not sure if the person that PM'ed was one of his staffs. Anyway, good luck with that attitude.
It came to pass due to the more than 17,000 dormant accounts from the one post wonders that only signed up to get the code (within a year's time), and pruning all of them was done by hand. So a very minimal amount of participation was decided to be added as a means of encouraging new members to participate further.
Also, the process of disseminating the code is done purely by volunteers, not paid staff or a bot.
Sorry you feel slighted because you didn't get immediate gratification, but the spirit of DIY involves a healthy dose of self-reliance (i.e. learn to do for yourself by searching first), and if you hit a wall, be patient for those that can help to do so. The members are a helpful bunch, but they'll be far less likely to do so if you demand they do so (i.e. behave as if it's owed to you).
well can i please have the code?

PM sent, hopefully still good when you need it

I agree with what you said but it was just how the words were put together when the 15 year old (according to his/her profile) PM'ed me. Of my 14 years working professional as an embedded firmware engineer, no one had said that to me before. Well, given the fact that he/she lives outside the USA, maybe it's just the way their culture treat each other

Originally, we served it up to anyone that asked, and it bit us in the ass (nearly lost the code due to it ending up on a coupon site).
As per those that complain most about not getting instant gratification, I find it's overwhelmingly from US members, not those abroad.
Ideally, it would be nice to see a separate sub-forum with access for users with more than 50 posts. This sub-forum can be used for discounts like that. If you manage to get to 50 posts without being banned as spammer, good on you and here is your code
I was not alerted not to give away the code for new users with no posts, but I have stopped doing that long time ago anyway.
well can i please have the code?
You seriously could not wait for 1.5 hours and had to ask twice? You will get nowhere in life with behavior like that.
...I have stopped doing that long time ago anyway.
FWIW, this will save Dave Jones a fair bit of work in the future.
Hi all. New user, but long time lurker. I see there's been some debate about handing out the code, but it does not appear to have been resolved yet. I'm respectfully requesting the code for the tequipment discount, or the accepted guidelines for receiving the code. I just finished upgrading my lab, and need to add some new toys.
thx,
-BFJ
Ten posts as of this one. I hope that qualifies me for a discount code!
I was hoping to buy some supplies at the end of the month - so - am requesting the code. Hope my profile comes up to muster :-)
Hi All -
I'm looking to buy a hot air station and would appreciate the code.
Thanks

I am looking to buy some AC power supplies, scopes and probes. Can I have the discount code please !
I would like that nice Rigol DP832!
Can someone please send me the code?
Hello, I am a lost robotics hobbyist who found himself here, in search of the EEVblog discount code, so as to purchase a shiny new DS1054Z. The Yokogawa DL1540 has been good, but sometimes you want to see pretty colors. Can my robots get a little "love"?
Thank you.
Could someone send me the code? Needing to pick up a MSO2072A, DG4102, and a Fluke 289.
Thanks
