I picked up a HP 8082A 250Mhz Pulse Generator on Ebay for $85 with free shipping.

It was described as not powering up. I works just fine, pilot lamp is burned out.

Does anyone have a schematic or manual for the HP 15265A test box for alignment on these units.

I needed this to align my HP 5370B TI counter.

Another HP 3478A for less than $100, calibrate by fluke, cal date unknown. Was going to repair it but when it arrived it was working perfectly. Its only missing a power button.
Button cap for 3d printing.

I wonder if this is the same power button cap as on my HP 4141B (4ch SMU) that is missing one.

Tektronix CFG280 function generator.  Not that I needed it but the price was right (EUR 10).  Took a bit of tender loving care,
vaporised resistor and two duff transistors needed replacing. Design / servicability wise this Tek is a disaster zone though  :palm:

Got an HP 6205C linear power supply for US$15 + shipping.  (Shipping was US$20).  Vendor said that one channel worked and one didn't.  Went into some detail in his ebay post about how he'd done some diagnosis and determined that neither the power transformer nor the bridge rectifier were bad and concluded that it was somewhere in the downstream regulation.  I took a look at the manual and concluded that there were no special unobtainable parts and it was a reasonable gamble.  I also read the part about jumper configuration and remote programming of the supply and took a guess that it simply lacked a couple of jumpers.

And sure enough, that's all it was.  Added the local programming jumpers for the non-working channel and there it goes!

Nice little supply and well worth the money!

Not that this is a bad thing from our point of view...   ;)

I snagged a pair of 'non working' 6284As for $15/ea at the TRW swap meet a few years back.  Sure enough, they didn't work...   ...until I read the POH and found out about and installed the missing jumpers on the back.   :-+

(Of course one of them is missing the little HP emblem.   |O )

Nope, not a bad thing at all.

Now this, this is a bad thing. I've passed up a bunch of gear because of it. *sigh* Empty holes on the face plate? Unacceptable! Since China is so good at counterfeiting ... err ... replicating brands, surely they could make replacement badges. Hmmm...

Yeah, right?  I hate to say it, but that has been the deciding factor a time or five for me, too, though only on things that I was really on the fence about and/or that were very common and came up frequently.

I'm sure there's a pallet of them sitting covered with dust in the corner of some warehouse somewhere.   |O

And at some point they'll be found, and promptly carted off to the dump.   |O |O |O |O

I just looked at a few of them on things here; it looks like a small chrome plated rimmed metal holder with a silkscreened metal label applied to it.  I'm tempted to try to figure out how to make some knock offs myself.  Maybe even a casting filled it epoxy ink or the like.   :-//

I'm sure a good cloisonne artist could probably make a nice stand-in for the color version. I wonder how well a 3D printer, sand paper, and some spray paint would work for the b&w ones.

58503B with the original binders/manuals and an antenna with coax. Not sure I believe the power on hours. Has 10 MHz, PPS and PPS2 outputs. Was too cheap too pass up.

Don't think that cloisonné hasn't crossed my mind.  I have an annealer that could be used for that, and could get the powdered enamel easily enough.  Just need to come up with the little castings...

Another possibility might be a casting with manually applied powder coating powder.  That only needs to go to about 400* F to cure...

Powder coating is a good idea! Not sure how to do precision application of it, but the area is so small it probably doesn't matter too much how you apply it.

Toothpicks dipped alternately into a wet pad and then the powder will work, you just need a thin layer. Alternatively mix the powder with water to make a thin slurry and dip with the toothpick as well. Cheap and disposable, and you get good control of droplet size and placement.

That's along the lines of what I was thinking.  Water and a toothpick or tiny artist's brush.  I've done cloisonné enameling that way.  Takes a while to build up, but it works well for control.

Now to learn to cast.....

Wow, you got lucky for that price!
How complicated is is to get the software up and running?
Looks really good.

Super easy - grab version 5 of Lady Heather. Then run it with /rx5 to select a 58503 series GPSDO. The only other trick is you need to turn off echo on the serial port before running Lady Heather using a terminal program with this command :system:communicate:serial1:fduplex off

Recently I was trashing an "old" HP printer, Off came the badge - not the same style- a little bit big but much better than 2 small holes >:D
Whoah! Watch where that landed we might need it later.
