Hello,
I'm a new boy on the block and wonder if there is anyone that has a 6040 Chinese CNC machine in the Gold Coast/Brisbane area that I can trade notes with?
Not on the Gold Coast but I do have a 6040.
There's at least one other users here who has one but from memory, they're even further away from you than I am.
Happy to help if I can.
Yep I'm on the West Coast. Sooner or later we'll secede and become our own country
I'm new to forums guys but have purchased a 6040 CNC Router & I am having a little trouble just trying to see how it works. I am fairly sure that I have burned out the 800W spindle & I am now waiting for a replacement. For all I know the spindle could have been faulty from day one.
All I want to be able to do at the moment is a dummy run but when I press RUN on the VFD it all seems to be out of control moving X-Y & Z axis's together in a shuddery movement & then stops.
All I really want to use the machine for is general engraving. I am waiting for a design program & am also running Mach 3.
I would be happy to hear if you have had any similar problems.
First thing to check is that there is an good earth connection to the spindle.
By default, the spindle does not have an earth wire in its cable so a separate wire will need to be run.
Without the spidle/VFD running, can you jog in XYZ?

And good riddance to you I say!
I can jog the X-Y & Z movements without having the SpindleVFD running. As soon as I run the VFD everything moves in all directions causing the thing to shut down. I do not have the luxury of time at the moment hence the slow reply to those willing to help me.
If movement is random or uncontrollable when the VFD is on, then it's almost certainly an earth problem.
As previously suggested, run an earth from the controller to the spindle and let us know the results.
Yes it's an earthing issue.
Mine does it too, but ONLY when I connect the probe ground to the CNC chassis (ie connecting the chassis earth to the logic earth).
I get around it by just disconnecting the probe ground lead before turning on the spindle. Running a proper earth to the spindle is on my "one day maybe I'm so lazy" to do list
Thank you for your replies. I will rectify the earth & let you know when
I have another problem with Huanyang VFD which won't let me change the settings on PD003, PD004 & PD005 from 50hz to 400hz. What am I doing wrong?

First you'll have to tell us what you are doing i.e. what steps are you taking to make the changes?
I turn on the VFD then press PRGM, then PD003 for example, then SET, then >>> to each flashing segment. then ^ to change the setting when flashing. I can't change to 400hz as it keeps going back to 50hz.
Thank you for the information. I do appreciate everyone's help. I hope to have a chance over the weekend to sit down & address my issues. Very much time poor at the moment
Thanks Again
