Hello i have a clevo p170em laptop and the power plug on the back of the laptop has broken.
Ive been looking around for a specific connector wich looks exsactly like ila 4 pin powerDin plug. How i found a 4 pin power din which i thought was perfect. It was the correct size but the wrong gender
Ive had a look on several sites such as ebay, amazon but i am unable to find the male version of this socket.
Does anyone know where i could get one or the name of it so that i can tey and find it?
Ok i have had a look further and have foubd that the one i have is called a "kycon connectors" but i am still unable to find the correct gender orientation. Does anyone else know?
Ok i have had a talk with kycon and they said that they dont do them. Does anyone else know? I really beed to gind ine of these plugs.
I don't have a name but have seen them a lot on larger portable hard drives and DVD-RW units.
Try calling Toby connectors -
www.toby.co.uk - they definitely do the Kycon type you've already found, and they may be able to get hold of the other gender. Failing that, PC Specialist do Clevo laptops, so they may be able to source it from them as a spare part.
Have you tried the Clevo UK service centre?

So you're looking for a PCB mount socket exactly the same as that image except the other gender. (4 visible pins inside)?
I don't think i've ever seen a reverse gender mini DIN pcb socket
I found the standard set a few years ago and used them in some of my products, but the company (switches plus) was bought out,
and the people I knew for 25-30 yrs got sacked. IF you find them again, please post back here !!!
According to the schematics in the
service manual (a laptop service manual with schematics!?!? oddly enough "clevo" is mentioned only once in it... and otherwise it's completely anonymous) the part# is 2MJ-3432-007 made by
Singatron.
If you can't get it, there's always the option of replacing both pieces with something more standard; it doesn't look like this model has any funky adapter ID, just +V and GND.

I thought you were looking at changing both to the more common pair? F/M PCB socket, Male plug? No?
