Hi all,i was miss sold a tek 2430 ,instead of beeing a 2430A as advertised, turns out it isnt the A model but a 2430 non A,ive beeing looking at signals from a sig gen on this,i want to be able to display the frequency in mhz etc,i can see the % duty cycle etc but cant seem to get it to display the frequency,is it posible with this non A version?,i know the A version has more math functions,is displaying frequency one of them?,this was the original listing:https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Tektronix-2430A-Oscilloscope-/294643654575?nma=true&si=pafAtsKxNpZVz9IsNtJq%252FWUFbig%253D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
The poor display was just dirt behind the blue screen filter, the other issue was a FPP self test fail, that was fixed by replacing the LTC-7P nv ram battery, being able to display frequency was one of the main reasons for buying this,if it cant be done i may send it back for a refund as it was not as listed,TIA.
Usually on the Teks you use the Measurement function, then select what you want to measure.
Do you know the 2430?,i see no measure button on this one!!,maybe the A has that and this one doesent?
On the 2430 it looks like the frequency is measured by the cursors (no measure button) see pages 3-8,9 4-15 (1/time) 6-15,16 in the operators manual.
Jeff
You have to do it with the cursors. Press the function button in the cursor area then select 1/time in the on screen bottom menu. Adjust the vertical cursors to one wavelength. BTW I'm going by how my A version operates.
ive tried that but still see no way to get a frequency readout, can the non 'A' 2430 actualy do this,i know the A version can as it has different firmware, can this be done on the non A version tho, thats the heart of the question.
The 2430 (without the A) lacks automatic measurements. You can use the graticule, cursors, and delayed timebase to make measurements just like on an analog oscilloscope.
Cheers david, thats what i suspected,i wonder if the A stands for automatic,as in measurements?
'A' as in revision A, like 'B' as in TDS2004,TDS2004A (not released in quantity) and TDS2004B the final hardware revision for that model. Similar to the TDS420 and TDS420A which had hardware and software revisions.

Later DSOs in the series had automatic measurements but not A suffix, like the 2440.

A common joke used to be (and by some accounts will be again) "Students of

Correct, it's our policy to not delete threads/posts unless they are in breach of forum rules.
