Hello all my first thought when needung help with this was here, so here we go.
My outdated mig welder had a pot die on it, pulled the numbers and have ordered a new one.
As i was looking in there saw a resistor that is clearly cooked, but what size do i use?
I think i see a 5 under the burn.
Here i will ahow you what i see.

It looks like a 5 watter from the proportions but do you know the resistance value?
Hi
Try measuring it.
Those wire wound potted high power resistor are able to run well beyond their power ratting, they can even start to glow red.
They usually recover when powered off and left to cool down.
Try getting a 10Watt replacement, just in case.
Ok i shal, after all other than wire speed control it was working fine.
If I do replace it will i be ok if its not spot on the righr size?

Hi
If you go to the trouble of replacing it, put in a part with the same resistance, but twice the power rating.
