Repair of a HP Envy 23" Touch PC found in the dumpster.
Blank screen and doesn't boot. Troubleshooting and repair to getting it booted again.
Re-edited from the EEVblog2 channel video, with new happy-ish ending.
Dave, your troubleshooting skills are top notch.

Young player question, please be gentle...
Dave used a "current supply" to power the LED backlight; what was the purpose of using a current supply as opposed to a standard bench supply in constant current mode? What am I missing?

I didn't know what the compliance voltage was, it could have been (and was) over 30V, so I used a my 100V capable CC supply right off the bat.

I'm a bit harder to please. I wanted him to sort out the backlight driver.

Nah, that is a LED driver, those are low voltage, so not likely to get much of a spark. Old school CCFL driver on the other hand ...
Nice fix! Also there is an update for the miniPro and the TL866 too, might want to upgrade them. Helped me fixing a few bugs, and an Overcurrent message when writing 27C eproms.
Dave managed to confuse half of the youtube commenters that can't figure out how to read the description

I don't know why people bother with notifications, I just check subs page once per day:

I had done this before, flashing BIOS with external programmer, but after that, Ethernet MAC adress was lost, something to check!
