Did I miss something or is it me?
When did the 'flog a dead horse'
emojicon appear on the board?
Whatever......it is hilarious
Now looking for a post to use it on.
Ha ha, that's hilarious, and much needed.
I just used it in the appropriate context on my last post.

I suspect that you won't have to wait very long.
Am I wrong or is the poor horse being hit on the nuts with a club?
I expect to use it a lot / see it used a lot in threads I've replied in.
Tim
We also need a snickering/giggling one (for mischief) and a disgust one (like a poop emoji)
Suggestion: Change the "bullshit" emoji to a poop emoji, and make the meter a "prove it" emoji. Or you could get rid of the meter emoji entirely and change the DMM emoji to "testing". The police emoji seems to already be gone (it was useless anyway).
The "blah" emoji is useless, and so is the sleeping one, both seeming to suggest a boring conversation (which is rather rude to say).
That Dave saw fit to add police and flogging a dead horse in an electronics forum in my view of things is truly
That he didn't investigate adding something more worthwhile for electronics that we could all use like an Omega.

apelly opened this thread the day before in the Supporters Lounge and it has been entirely overlooked.

And how on earth is an Omega symbol supposed to represent an emotion?
They are called emoticons for a reason.

How that's something of real use.
But most/many (I believe) members, would get the following message:
An Error Has Occurred!
The topic or board you are looking for appears to be either missing or off limits to you.
So how are the rest of us suppose to know there was a "hidden" thread about it ?

Tell us we can easily place an Ohms symbol in a post then. I don't know and no doubt many others don't either.

You don't unless you've got 4 yellow blocks in your profile or more than 1K posts.
But Dave's seen it now and gets it could be a good idea.
There's a similar thread started that no doubt will head down the same path.....forum tweaks.

Thanks.

Yes, I agree. Being able to easily put electronics symbols into posts, such as Ohms, Deg C, Deg F, Micro (units), would be useful to some people.
Although you can apparently already put some/all of them in posts. It is NOT easy/obvious how to do it, to many of us.
Personally I find it a bit of a pain that ohms is missing (or it is too difficult to know how to do it, currently), as it is quite common to need it in posts here.
My horse is still moving, so it must still be alive.

Place yes, easily no..

And therein lies the problem.
A technical forum and we can't easily use some of the very most basic technical symbols.
Needs fixing IMHO.
Actually I think it is unpleasant and distracting and way too large. I would not be at all surprised to see in years to come posts on the internet will become so filled with emoticons substituting for well chosen words that future anthropologists will be unable to decipher them without some form of digital Rosetta stone. Some are so inappropriately used they even go against clarifying the words. Which is the exact opposite of their intent.
the MSN messenger era is long gone, thank god
as will that emoji filled bullshit 13yo likes so much
hey, just like MSN messenger

For anyone in the Mac world,
Key | Character | Aide mémoire |
option-z | omega ? | z is the last letter of the Roman alphabet, as is ? in Greek |
option-k | degrees ? | degrees kelvin |
option-m | mu µ | m for mu |
are the standard keyboard short cuts and send proper Unicode for every browser I have ever tried them on. HOWEVER, they do not show up in the forum. However, they do show up correctly in preview. There's something seriously broken here.
What do you mean symbols aren't showing up here?
Unusual symbol test (for mobile):
There are supposed to be 18 symbols here, lets see how many are recognized and show up:
°•??¤??¡¿
Edit: 5/18 are recognized, that is rather poor
