That's half the problem. Roussef did so much intervention in existing economic policies that our economy went down the drain. Her stupidity and inability to perform is being catastrophic.
Unemployment and inflation are at an all time high, which industrial production and currency value have never been so low.
We are officially in an economical recession, moving fast towards a depression. All of this happened during her presidency.
Corruption is indeed a problem, and everything is tied to her political party, but that didn't lead us to where we are now. The previous president, Lula, from the same party, is corrupt, is being investigated and can be arrested at any time, but he didn't make so many interventions in the economy, and that's why we survived the global 2008 financial crisis w/o any damage.
She s one of those cases: she was elected because she is a woman, not because she has any merit.

Oh, but I do blame the old Portuguese crown! I just don't do it so often anymore because some Portuguese guys here, who have nothing to do with it, might be offended. Sometimes I wish we had been colonized by the British, or Dutch, or anybody else but the Portuguese. I know however, that the Portuguese people of today have nothing to do with it, they owe us nothing, and I don't hold it against them. It was our own fault for not being able to clean up the mess they left in our own house.

A big part of any nations success is how it trains the next generation. Here in the US we have been doing a poor job of this since sometime in the 1960s or 1970s.
There are many theories about why this is, but none of the solutions to date has done much to change this. I personally think that two big factors are wealth in the US and the Vietnam War. The wealth thing is that everyone has so much that the value of an education is not obvious. You have to be a little hungry (at least in a metaphorical sense) to put in the work it requires learn and the work it requires to assist your children to learn. The Vietnam War thing relates to the draft. Becoming a teacher was a draft deferrment, and the ranks of teaching were flooded with people with little interest or talent in the profession, just an interest in not going to Southeast Asia. As with all career choices, momentum kept them there after the draft threat ended. -

As reported in news here its said that the cost was 4,5 billion dollars but when signed suddenly it had traveled up to 5,4 billion dollars.
i would dare say there is not one single arms deal (country to country) that went through without corruption/bribes of some sort or the other, it's built into the system.
I ponder how JAS will perform in the heat of Southamerica, since it was designed for a rather different environment.

Well they have this woman in Germany. She is making the most damage to the EU and Germany since that other german, with the funny little mustache starting a world war.
My concern is when a female is given such a position because of her gender. I think this is absolutely wrong. I believe a position should be filled by whomever is capable, based on their merits - but should not be disadvantaged in the selection process simply because of their gender.
And yes, persons, political parties can ruin countries. -
I honestly don't think it makes a difference in the vast majority of the world whoever gets voted in. The marketing may be different but Obama hasn't run the US any differently than Bush was doing, in the UK the Conservatives are doing exactly the same as Labour did. Unless they're really lucky I bet most who will read this can see the same in their own country. The only way they try to keep their voters happy is with slightly different rhetoric while they serve their real masters, donors and special interests. Trump won't be any different, his wealth may be hard for us to get our heads around but it's nothing compared to what the people who really matter to governments have access to, many could throw around Trumps entire net worth a month for shits and giggles and still be richer at the end of the year. Plus money isn't the only thing people can be bribed with. Blackmail is only a bribe the blackmailer thinks you can't refuse after all.

Let me give you some info that might explain that.
At the time, the other candidates for the purchase were the F-18 Hornet and the Rafale, both being tried and tested fighters, including being deployed on real war scenarios (specially the F-18). All the Brazilian Air Force specialists involved in the case were certain that the F-18 was the better candidate, which is true, and the Gripen was the worst possible choice. Not only it [the JAS Gripen] wasn't a complete project back then, but its operating costs were virtually unknown. It can't be deployed from a sea carrier, it's max load is 60% of the F-18 and, again, it had never been tested on battle because it wasn't ready.
At the time, the Ministry of Defense, the department in charge of the purchase was run by military personnel. During the negotiations, Pres. Lula da Silva (of the same party as Dilma, "PT") changed the minister of difense for a civilian that belonged to his party. Then all of a sudden the Gripen automagically was being stated as the better choice and was eventually purchased.
BTW, during the negotiations with Boeing for the F-18, Brazil got the go-ahead from the US DoD to purchase the F-18. It was the logical and obvious choice and everyone thought was a done deal until the change in the ministry of defense for a corrupt civilian.

I never said that. They are breaking it by doing the opposite. One was killing everyone who had slightly different genes.
