Hi everyone,
I´ve drawn a schematic where I use the darlington transistor TIP120.
Unfortunately, the package is TO220H (horizontal), this takes too much place from the pcb, also I must mounting them to a heatsink.
Question: How could I change the horizontal into vertical package ?
Of course, they are a generic TO220V package in the library avaible, but I want to have the darlington symbol in the schematic.
Martin
In ver 7+ that I have there is an icon on the left toolbar that looks like a resistor with one smaller and larger. Click that and select the library that has the TO220 vertical package, and select it from the list. Next, click on the transistor on the board that will be changed.
There other ways, type in the text bar "change package" and point to the package in the library, Or click on the wrench, drop down to package and do the same.
I'm sure that there are more than a few libraries that have the vertical package.
Hi !
Click that and select the library that has the TO220 vertical package, and select it from the list. Next, click on the transistor on the board that will be changed.
This works but will also change the symbol in the schematic (from darlington to "normal" ).

Doing this :
And there is nothing else you could do.
(Got eagle 9.2)
Make sure you are doing this in the board an not the schematic. Also use the same library as the horizontal device. Click on the i icon and click on the TO220H device and see from where it came.
If that still changes the symbol, get in to the library and assign a new package (TO220V) to the darlington transistor in question.
I can show you how if you wish.
Go to the control panel and expand the tree view under "Library"
Next select the library that the TIP120 came from, and double click it to open it in the Library Editor
Do this and I'll get back to you after you confirm that much here.
Please confirm if you have 3 vertical panels showing now.
Hi,
Next evening, I´m going to bed, it´s late....
Well you are 2 minutes away from completion, but tired is tired. I am GMT -5
No file uploaded. As you see I am here now.
Got Eagle 9.6.2 (Free),
You can open the library in the control panel, open the library power transistors, click on TIP120 and right from it, it shows the symbol and the package.
You couldn´t do anything else.
Try again to upload the screenshot...
edit and still won´t work
edit 2:
Still no picture. Reply to me, expand add attachment, drag photo to where it says to. Save.
I know how it goes - But actually it won´t go.
Therefore I´ve used an external uploader, see last post.
I ask the question again, do you see 3 vertical panes? Is the left one where the library is?
left double click on the library for the TIP120. Without a screenshot, I can't help you.
Trust me, there WAS a screenshot visible !!!!!
I can see the image in your PM. You must double left click to open it in the editor. If that doesn't work, right click and see what options there are.
I also noted that you are in Preview mode. Try Home.
Hi,
With the upgrade to 9.6.2, I think I get it now - Will post the result next evening, thank you for your help so far !
How about this attached library?
Works !
Unfortunately, I have to search for an alternative to eagle - In the last hour I´ve experienced, that there are no longer eagle-only licenses avaible (want to change from fee to a real license).
You can get eagle only in fusion360 included - for 58€/month, way too expensive for users like me...
Good!
You'll notice the horizontal one has no hole. Somehow it got deleted. If you want to try navigating the tree view and learn to edit the library, I can help you tomorrow if you wish.
I thought they were still selling V7 licenses?
