When is this forum going to start using HTTPS for login? Firefox is grumbling about it every time I log in.
I tried it with Chrome just now and it's OK... FWIW, I'm a Firefox user as well but I gave-up on Chrome as my main squeeze to support Firefox (the last private browser made by an NPO).
Although this forum area is for posting about blogs (other than EEVblog), and you may find the best browser specific help by posting at

This forum will work on http or https - your choice.
If you want secure log in - then use https.

Sorry Brumby, I just tried on Firefox and it works now. I recall posting an issue about it a year ago in the members area, but I didn't see an improvement in the failure rate of https logins, so I gave up, since privacy wasn't an issue. I just put it down to site upgrades, etc..
rhb,
It'll start using the 's' when you add it. It's just not configured to use https by default.
FWIW, I have bookmarks specifically to both (convenience, for those times when https doesn't appear to work..)
https://www.eevblog.com/forum/login/I wonder if it stops working if Dave's hosting company judges we are bogging down resources on a shared server.
The forum has a CDN (CloudFlare). Should be OK on traffic.
Is that like some kind of edge content provider? I haven't followed that stuff since Akamai came out (or whatever..)
Back in the day, we had to add special boards into servers, so they didn't bog-down on heavy encryption session count.
Yes, it's a content delivery network like Akamai. CloudFlare also provides the TLS encryption between their node and the client browser.
Ha! So if someone really wanted private data that bad, they could just look for it on the superspeed BGP backhaul connection... Likely HLS are the only ones capable of that level of access or decode speed. I'm not much of a conspirasist but I bet some Russian mobster's being watched right now in this brave new worlld.
I tried specifying https again and now it works. When I went to EEVblog.com and selected forum it had pointed me to the http login and I had bookmarked that. The links on the eevblog.com home page appear to be an assortment of http and https.
But what the heck. I clicked on an ad and got a DNS lookup failure.
